I'm with you Todd , I talk to 9 out of 10 visa agents and they all suggested using their money to fund the B800,000. Even one of those agents is the daughter of a high ranking immigration officer. Yes Thailand may be corrupt, you think Thailand will stop being what they are if a few people wants to do the legal way. You will have to apply for a 3 months Non O visa in your home country prior to coming to Thailand. Use that to open a bank account. But if you're already in Thailand without it you will have to use the services of a visa agent
