Why do all of these people try to cheat the system. Just put the damn 800k in the bank, leave it there and dont worry about it. That's only $23,000 US. If you can't afford that then dont come to Thailand.

Why do people try to work the system? Put the 800K in the bank & forget about it. Some people are saying get an agent since you would receive very little in interest. No interest is better than the agents fees. Once you consider the fees you give the agent you are actually losing money.

Is the cost of living in Thailand now 80% of that in Australia?

We are in the process of building large a 3 bdrm 2bath house with upgrades for $80,000 US. If we were in the US the same style house would easily run $450,000 plus. My wife and I can go out to eat for less than 500 baht. Things are a hell of a lot cheaper here.

Why is health insurance in Thailand so much more expensive than in Australia?

If you are over 60 with prior conditions, if you find it there will be too many restrictions & too high of a price. Healthcare is much cheaper here so I just elected to build a fund for any future surgeries I may need.
