incorrect. The STV is issued by Thai Government and so the Embassy still grant it. Thai Long Stay is just an agent.

STV is extensive paperwork but easy enough to get together and present yourself to the embassy

it is a good visa for those with reasonable money resources and don't want the hassle of annual immigration visits, minimum funds held in Thai bank account etc. It won't be withdrawn as many people bought and use
