Years ago I worked for a TV program that did stunts like this. No way it could be done go or Thailand with any degree of guaranteed success due to rules, regulations, coups and despots on the route. We cut the route to starting in Thailand and did Vietnam, Laos, Vietnam etc. Nice idea but!!!!!

To be honest it’s worth paying an agency around baht. They will sort everything for you. Make appointments pick you up get translations etc. Brilliant service. And the good thing is divorce is only 500 baht!!!

can I also add to that for men bring larger size condoms. Most shops here only sell up to 55 whilst most western men need at least 57.

I imagine if you were building a rocket here you would not get a work permit as it’s a job reserved for Thai nationals !!

Just think most of your electrical products and household wares are made in China, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand. Just buy new here. About 25% of the price you buy at home.

Simple thought. If she enters on her US passport she needs visas etc including 90 days. If she enters on her Thai passport she needs nothing and the new government will even give her baht to spend!!!!

I went with a colleague for the same service. By coincidence our passports expired at the same time. We both went in around 9am. My friend spouted about not being a chargeable service and he had read so on the website. He was taken to a desk and sat down. I was called over and told there was a usual charge of 500 baht. I agreed but asked if I could scan to pay. Cannot they said. OK I said but I only have 300 baht in cash. OK he said and sat down, took both passports and I watched intrigued by all the stamping, checking back etc. About 30 minutes later he told me here you are all finished. I asked about 90 day and he looked and said that’s next month but I can do now, no charge!!!

I left immigration and returned home.

The whole process took just over 1 hour.

My friend returned late in the afternoon, he told me that they checked everything 3 times and then put 1 stamp. They then did the same for all the other stamps.

Moral is yes the service is free but you can stay there 1 hour or 8 hours. Also he has to go back in 3 weeks for his 90 day !!!!

Health insurance wise at your age is a bit tricky but I found Udon Brokers offered WRLife at 5000 a month with no contribution to payments (many companies insist on you paying 10% of the total costs ). In the end I went for Liberty at baht for the year with a 100k contribution but I covered that with a 100,000 accident and sickness policy with Allianz at 6900 for the year.
