Hi,

I'm trying to apply for a DTV visa using the Soft Power route with Medical treatment for new braces.

I've found a few centres but none of them seem helpful in getting me an appointment letter or detailed treatment letter without a consultation first

For those already successful with the same thing, could you share the name of the hospital you used?

I don't want to be rejected not having a detailed letter

Help would be much appreciated

Update: I was able to get the price from Medisafe. Thanks to all for the help.

Hi, my family and I are moving to Thailand next year, and I've been working through all the logistics. I've been trying to get a rough estimate of what our various prescriptions will cost, and I've got most of them figured out well enough, except one. My mom has Parkinson's and takes a medication called Sinemet (carbidopa/levodopa). Does anyone here have experience filing this medicine and how much it may cost or know a resource I could reach out to for pricing? She goes through around 180 pills per month (6/day).

Just a Sobering thought for those thinking about whether they really need travel Insurance, last Tuesday evening my wife stepped off the kerb in Bkk. Something she has done hundreds of times in the last month. This time she hit a bit of rough bitumen, fell, and broke 2 bones in her ankle. Picked her up from hospital today, we are still to fly home but cost 325,000 bht to date. Convert that into your own currency in $Aud it's $16000 according to my credit card

Hi all! New here. I'll be traveling to Thailand for 12 weeks starting January. I have two questions:

1. Rabies vaccine - can I get it in Bangkok? As the only protection it gives is that you have 48 hrs instead of 24 hrs to find a doctor, I prefer to get it in Thailand if possible, since it is really expensive for the protection it affords.

2. Driver's license - I plan to rent or buy a moped there to get around, and am planning to get an international driver's license for Thailand and probably Laos. Is that necessary though? Are people usually checked for international license or will your own country's be sufficient?

Thanks in advance 😃

Hi. This falls under everything else but hoping for some advice.

My father in law is very unwell. He’s a monk and is currently staying at the hospital for monks in Bangkok for the last few months. His health is getting worse and he’d like to be moved to a hospital in his home town of Surin so that he can be near family. I’ve spoken to a hospital in Surin and they are able to accommodate him.

The only issue is transporting him from Bangkok to Surin. I’d drive him but he needs pretty frequent medical supervision. I’ve tried speaking to his current hospital and they are unable to transport him. I’ve tried looking for a private ambulance service or something similar that could transport him but no luck so far. Does anyone here know a company/service that could do transport him? Or does anyone know another option?

Thank you.
