TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether they can book a wedding date in Thailand before arriving for the marriage, scheduled for December. Comments suggest that it is advisable to have the Thai girlfriend book an appointment at the local amphur for the marriage, as well as to handle paperwork with the respective authorities. Recommendations include using an agency to assist with the marriage formalities, which can simplify the process. It’s noted that the embassy doesn't require an interview for affirmation, but a booking for paperwork needs to be made in advance.

To be honest it’s worth paying an agency around

baht. They will sort everything for you. Make appointments pick you up get translations etc. Brilliant service. And the good thing is divorce is only 500 baht!!!

Pay fee to Embassy, book date (new dates available 6 weeks in advance, only Tuesdays and Thursdays). There is no interview. You book in, sign a statement and go. Embassy will confirm your paperwork 3 weeks before, even though they say not to finalise travel until they confirm. Once a date is booked, you can change it easy enough. The Embassy doesn't care about date or where exactly you marry. My Girlfriend lives on Samui, but we married in Bangkok. Translated and notorized paperwork, without translation mistakes, needs to be delivered to the MFA by 3pm, They need 3 working days (closed weekends and holidays). Agents can make appropriate gratuities to ensure you can marry soon after. I got my certificate on a tuesday, and married on the following monday. MFA can reject if they don't like the translation. Recommend you pay the extra for a certified copy of your passport. Certificate looks like this.

The MFA booking/appointment to get your paperwork sorted is the part you need to worry about. I just got my paperwork back yesterday so if you need someone to translate, make the booking and stand-in for your appointment (via power of attorney) I can recommend this lady as she did everything she said she would and we received paperwork the day she said we would. Will def use her again.

Her office is down the soi about 200m to the right next door to a coffee shop. Its within walking distance of the MFA.

cost was inline with what everyone else wanted that I had talked to. It was either 2400 or 2800thb for 2 pages (450 per) and the rest was for her/employee to make the two trips to MFA to submit/collect paperwork and then send to me by express post.

Was lucky to find her because I went to the MFA thinking I could do all this in one day based on a 1 year old post on aseannow dot com re a translation service that was (at one time) on the 2nd floor of the MFA preCovid. They’re not there. Plenty of hawkers there though. There were only two places I could find within walking distance of MFA and she was the one that answered. The other one is directly across the motorway from MFA but I never heard back from them.

If your girlfriend is in Thailand have her go to her local amphur (the one in her house book) and make an appointment for your marriage. Sometimes there can be a long waiting line so better to have an appointment setup. Same for the party venue if you want to have a party somewhere..
