I’ve taken out much less every week at their branch in Hua Hin. They never charge me any fee at all and I get a good rate. It may depend on the particular branch.

I never use atm’s now and always do this.

it is a lot of money. But going in and out of Thailand for a year or so, flying back to Oz etc is also a lot of money.

Can I stay in Thailand until midnight on the date of my visa stamp after my flight is cancelled?

Take a cheap flight out to Nam or another nearby country and back in time to transfer to your original flight. Probably cheapest given the tight times but it keeps you right.
