I see. WHO is the appropriate forum for international coordination on such issues. However, when a few nations took aim at the WHO and politicised the situation very early in the pandemic, this opportunity was torpedoed.
Tragic. Ct value variance aside, the life cycle of the virus (initial exposure, test detection threshold, contagion, etc), and the time between pre-departure tests and arrival tests (one to three days) makes this situation inevitable, because everyone who catches the virus tests negative, until they don’t. Only after the world moves to truly living with the virus, without punishing the victims, will this situation be eliminated.
Yes, different Ct value test standards around the world is a headache (in Hong Kong the standard is an exceedingly sensitive 45), however each nation has chosen it’s own path through the pandemic. Though I must ask … what action would you propose?
