Hi, i need advice as i am travelling to Thailand with a friend who is Muslim, she is worried about food, if they serve halal or is it going to be hard to look for halal food. 🤗 Its our first time to travel to Thailand 🤞🏼

We are planning to go to beautiful coastal areas with beautiful sandy beaches and check out temples as well. TIA

Any suggestions welcome. 😁

TLDR : Answer Summary
Traveling to Thailand, especially in southern regions like Phuket and Krabi, offers plenty of halal food options due to the significant Muslim population. Halal restaurants are widely available in major cities and tourist areas, though less so in the northern part of Thailand. Key locations such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and tourist hotspots in the south have numerous halal eateries. In cases where halal food is not readily available, alternatives like vegetarian or vegan options can also be considered.

I live in the deep south. It's hard to find a non-halal restaurant here as 80 percent of the population is Muslim.

The tips is Download food delivery app : grab, line man or robinhood and search the word Halal or "ฮาลาล" (in Thai). You will easily find them with their location.

Does halal still kill the animal by slitting it's throat while it's still alive making it go through that agonising pain and stress?

Or have l got it all wrong?

fairly sure all animals that are killed for consumption go through pain and stress. Maybe everyone should consider what they put in their mouths.

lots of halal food no worries. may be in small villages with non muslim population there might be a problem but in any of the main cities no problem. you will always find a couple of Halal places even if sold by non muslims.

South Thailand is pretty thick with Muslim community. To get to James Bond Island, there are several Muslim villages. Your friend will have no problems Halal.

I lived a couple places in Bangkok where I can hear the call to prayers at 5:00am.

In Bangkok, near/in Nana there are a few Muslim country embassies, there maybe a good place to get Halal. Nana is not recommended for the respectable crowd.

In the big cities and the southern parts of the country there are tons of halal restaurants run by Muslims. So if you're in Bangkok or down southwest, you'll be fine.

I saw a muslim guy in the terminal 21 food court panicking every time they picked up a knife, telling them to clean it and worrying so much asking does anything have pork, demanding all this crap - so embarrassing and hilarious to watch

In the southern part of Thailand there is a lot of halal restaurants as most of them are Muslims. But in the other cities like the north it's kind of hard to find halal restaurants especially late in the evening. I'm saying so out of experience because I'm a Muslim too. In some parts of Thailand is really hard, I had to buy only from
****
which has very choices of halal food to get from there.

You’ll find halal food everywhere, especially down in the southern parts of Thailand. Many Thais are Muslim and there are many visitors each year from Muslim countries.
