TLDR : Answer Summary
The community consensus is that Grab taxi is considered safe in Thailand, with many users recommending it based on their experiences. While Grab is widely used and generally reliable, some users suggest trying other apps like Bolt and InDriver, which can be cheaper but may have longer wait times. Users recommend comparing prices between apps and highlighting the importance of correctly setting pickup locations. Overall, both Grab and Bolt are regarded as safe transportation options, but each has its pros and cons depending on location and pricing.

Traffic in Bangkok can be CRAZY. Taxis are safe and predictable. Hopping on the back of a motorbike might be a slightly different story but it is hard to resist when the alternative is sitting in standstill traffic.
I used Grab almost every day. It is convenient, safe and clean. Drivers are also friendly, if they're not too shy to have a conversation with you...even with limited English.

Grab has worked great for me in Bangkok and in Feb the charges had gone down a lot. Transport and food delivery. Trackable and efficient never had to wait for more than 10 minutes for a ride.

I used both bolt and grab for a couple months now and so far it’s been great! I always open both to see how much each app charges and usually go with the cheaper one. Bolts usually cheaper but sometimes they aren’t close or aren’t available so I used grab for speed if I need to go somewhere fast since they are more readily available.

Yes it's safe and works great.
But in certain cities, Bolt is more than 50% cheaper, so get both apps while you're here.
They are not great for driving standards but it’s what you can expect. If I have to take a taxi which is very rare I would hail a taxi on meter. Why not drive yourself ?

Thailand is one of the most dangerous places in the world for road deaths, especially for motorcyclists. More taxis have functioning seatbelts these days, so a taxi is relatively safe. 🖖

Both are safe, depending driver, way and reference about driver are accumulated in the database and checked. Bolt little cheeper than GRAB but more difficult to get in short time. GRAB has the last week get up about 15% in price in all drives but newer announced that official!

Bolt is better than Grab, but both are safe. I prefer Bolt in Pattaya, but Grab was great in Bkk. Grab drivers are now seldom responding to low fare rides. Tip: Make sure the pin in Bolt app is placed correctly.

I do not drive here due to different driving rules so I either walk or use taxis to get anywhere. Grab & Bolt (which is cheaper) have been great. One thing with bolt, double check your pick up location. Not always accurate. Also I was unable to add a visa card to my Grab account due to different security protocols. I had no problem with American Express. I have been unable to add a credit card to Bolt so I just pay with cash.
I belive you can if you set it up in advance first but I'm not sure. I always pay cash. I know you can use Thai bank account to the driver though if you have one.
