if I remember rightly, you get a message in Thai (how useful) only recognisable by the letters ATK. You are right the app is useless and best option is to email the hotel any results. Hopefully all of this will not be needed soon

I thought standard procedure was an under consideration stamp, whereby you keep the passport and then come back at a stated time/date. Any agent that keeps a passport for a month is dodgy

Just download films, or TV shows to phone or ipad. No need for crappy in-flight entertainment these days as everyone has a mobile entertainment system in their pocket or bag.
