agree, mindset is a big part but your case is slightly different to this guy(Thailand v US).

My wife is also from the Philippines but we met overseas (not in my country or hers), then we moved to Aus, she is now an AU citizen and we live in Thailand together after 18 years of marriage.

It is pretty clear that she is/was never in the relationship for love and he gave up his competitive advantage. I think one should be 100% sure the intention of both parties in the relationship before taking such moves.

To those saying "never bring your girl home" i disagree, but you need to ensure it is the real deal. If your gf is 10+ years younger then there is a chance she's not with you because of your golden personality...

agree many use agents when they can't get a visa legitimately. I'm sure some use agents for visas just because they think it is too complicated too though (TIT afterall)

And yes some use travel agents to keep things stress free (my own parents still do unless i book for them)

Some people still use agents to book flights when that is even easier to do online...
