Look for a car repair shop with a cog logo. They do the annual inspection ( I presume they are government approved)
They will do the transfer paperwork for a small fee. Leave the book with them and collect a few days later. I’ve done it twice in Hua Hin and very easy
Normally driven by idiots , too fast , taking chances- overtaking at any opportunity, too fast for conditions, overloaded , driving for 20 or more hours and falling asleep at the wheel ( yes I’ve been on a bus with driver falling asleep) ,etc. Or sometimes you get a very considerate driver and a pleasant ride. Generally not great for a nervous passenger . I try to avoid if possible.
To prove 800,000 Thai baht (THB) for a retirement visa in Thailand, you can provide a bank book or passbook that shows the deposit and a bank letter that confirms the deposit came from an overseas source within two months of your application. I had a retirement visa , not marriage visa. Do you mean that If you’re married to a Thai you don’t have to show funds came from overseas?
Unfortunately it seems they make up the rules as they go along. As I understand the rules , the funds must come from your overseas account and you are able to show this. My funds came from my Thai wife’s Thai bank account and there was no problem. When you use an agent who “provides” the funds similarly it does not come from your overseas account. It seems to me whatever rule they want to make up on the day is correct.
My Thai wife and I dressed smart , were very respectful and found the immigration very helpful in Hua Hin ( Hin Lek Fai )
I have accounts with Halifax and NatWest. I explained to both I was moving to Thailand and no problem. Halifax uses mobile phone to confirm transactions by text and easy to change mobile phone number to Thai mobile on their app. This is what they advised me to do and works with Thai number. NatWest uses a card reader and I got two spares to bring.
Check out this handy savings drawdown calculator available online. Add your uk pension at 67 and I would say you’ll be fine.I’ve just spent a year in Hua Hin and would say your budget is fine. Most day to day expenses are cheaper. My council tax and utility bills not including rent uk £500. Thailand £60.
I bought my bike from a private individual. You can do the transfer at a garage that does testing. There are many everywhere. Look for the cog logo. We went to one on phetkasem road near the palace opposite. They told us what paperwork we needed and left it with them and collected the book in my name about a week later. Did the same with my car but we went to the transport office in Pran Buri where they did it while we waited . Took about an hour.
