TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about traveling to Thailand after recovering from COVID-19 and the concern about possibly failing a PCR test before their flight. Responses from the community highlighted key points. It is noted that individuals can sometimes test positive up to a few months after recovery, which can complicate travel plans. It's crucial to obtain a negative PCR test to board the flight. Users recommended taking an initial test through NHS to gauge the situation and ensuring appropriate travel insurance is in place. Additionally, information from the Thai Embassy indicated that those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 can present a recovery certificate alongside vaccination documentation, which may ease their travel procedure.

Recovery letter from your NHs Thailand accepts recovery letter

Get tested by nhs in advance. And again. If/when negative you can do your pre flight one.

I am reading the Thailand Pass FAQ.

"5. I have previously been infected with COVID-19; can I travel to Thailand?

- Yes. Those previously infected with COVID-19 are considered fully vaccinated if they have

received a single dose of COVID-19 vaccine within 3 months after their recovery. In this

case, your proof or medical record of COVID-19 recovery must be submitted alongside your

single-dose vaccination certificate.

- If you have been fully vaccinated before contracting COVID-19, you are still considered to

be fully vaccinated.

- Those who have recovered from COVID-19 within 3 months before travelling to Thailand

must present a valid COVID-19 recovery form or medical certificate certifying that they have

recovered from COVID-19 or are asymptomatic in case their COVID-19 RT-PCR test shows a

positive result."

Seems like your challenge is to get a medical facility to sign off that you are recovered and a paper in line with what is expected.

I would recommend seeking advice from Thai Embassy where you depart and discuss this with your planned airline.

Seems like their links only work from main page I clicked on this.

I am pretty sure you can get a document showing you have recovered from covid and are not contagious anymore and have natural immunity (if from U.K., it’s on the NHS app) and can use that. Confirm with Thai embassy.

I recommend postponing your trip if possible. If by "now", you mean you recently had COVID-19, you probably will test positive. The tests used in Thailand are sensitive. If you test positive, you will go to hospital quarantine for at least 14 days, or until you test negative twice.

- you should not be posting advice without any merit to its validity. Please tell me where you gleaned your pearls of wisdom ? My information comes from the Thai Embassy website and clearly saes YOU CAN ENTER WITH A POSITIVE PCR !!! I have previously been infected with COVID-19; can I travel to Thailand?

Do as

has suggested. It's a case of hoping for the best, but keep in mind even a negative test before you fly does not guarantee smooth entry, as you could easily test positive on arrival, so ensure you have insurance which covers this possibility (most insurances don't), as you will be required to go into quarantine which is an expensive venture for the uninsured. If you need assistance with the most appropriate insurance contact Arawan Namak who knows these situation inside out

Get a free test from Nhs 1st and see whether it comes back pos or neg 1st before you get the PCR to fly

exactly. Couple of free tests then if negative, it'll set his mind at rest.

Hopefully everything goes well for you

Nothing

You must provide a negative test when you board your flight and for Thailand.

So you might have to postpone your trip as I've read it can can give you positive results up to 6 weeks after you've recovered

@Bryan *******
wow .

It took you 2 weeks to reply.. However you may be allowed to enter Thailand being positive but are you allowed to board the airline with the same result?? .

So is that a risk you are willing to take .... Good luck with it all ....
Brandon ************
You can test positive for up to 90 days after recovery, but that's rare.

You'll not be able to board your flight to Thailand without a negative PCR test so the best thing you can do is hope it comes back negative. Also make sure you have an insurance policy that will cover you if you test positive in Thailand (Thailand uses a more sensitive PCR than most other countries so even if you test negative to fly, you may test positive on arrival). Many insurance will not cover if you're hospitalized only for testing positive but have no symptoms so you should pay the extra for a Thai policy that will definitely cover that possibility.

someone just 3 days ago posted how they were sent to the hospital after testing positive and no one was interested in seeing their recovery certificate.
