Sales is a bit vague. The Thais do not want foreigners doing work that a Thai could do. I do not have a saved link as I am not in the job market but there is a list of allowed and not allowed jobs on the net. In a pre Covid time you would enter Thailand on something like a tourist visa, find an employer who will prepare all the paperwork for you to get a work permit and you would go to a nearby country to get a Non O B visa. In Covid times with closed borders you would basically get everything done before leaving home. VAnither thing to think about is depending what you plan to sell, and to whom, the languages barrier can be a big issue. I say languages as there are enough regional dialects that can really mess you up even if you know central Thai.
There is a grand total of about 40 people that have received an STV and they all came from one city in China. I think maybe by there will be more this week but again from a specific city in China. While there are some exceptions around changing visas in Thailand, visas are in fact a way to enter a country and come with them a defined permit to stay. Be Your chances of switching to an STV are zero. Sorry.
A grand total of 40 or so people have entered Thailand on an STV. All were from China. The Thai govt is determining what country and even what city can apply for an STV at this time.
I think you will find that at least for now, the Thai govt. is determining who can apply for STV. So far it is just certain parts of China and a jaw dropping number of around 40 have so far arrived.
Good to know and good luck to your friend. I do not know the details but understand there are issues with being let out of Aus to go anywhere. In Canada it is discouraged by the government but not prevented from leaving. It will be interesting to see what happens to winter snowbirds. Most drive to Florida or Arizona. If they go this year it means flying if they can find a flight and paying for a long term car rental as you need it in those two places. I think Mexico will be very busy soon.
Thank you for the info. It is the first time I have seen any list. That said it appears to have been put together by the Ministry of Health not the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that determines visa rules. It might be a leap of faith to think the list means that those countries are allowed typical Thai tourist visas. My home country is not on the list so I cannot tell but can guarantee you we cannot get a tourist visa. My personal guess is that the list will be used when the Thais decide to start opening but to my knowledge the only tourists coming in have been the 41 Chinese on the STV scheme very recently.
Sorry to say but this sounds like an USA specific thing. I cannot say for sure as I have not inquires here in Canada but everything I have read coming out of Thailand has been that OA and OX are allowed but tourist visas no.
