A grand total of 40 or so people have entered Thailand on an STV. All were from China. The Thai govt is determining what country and even what city can apply for an STV at this time.

My advice is to phone the Canberra consulate for a start get on there web site as you are married to a Thai get a marriage visa and being close to Canberra try to make an appointment when you start the process if you are looking at moving to Thailand in a years time thing will have possibly changed by then I have a Thai partner we have been waiting in Brisbane for the past few months for things to change so we can return we are not married so that is why I am applying for a retirement visa
