Hi everyone, when applying for dependents (one spouse has DTV and spouse and kids will be dependent) do I have to make a family portfolio pdf to attach with the documents?
Thanks 🙏
Answer summary
The original question asks whether it's necessary to create a family portfolio PDF when applying for dependents on a DTV visa in Thailand. The conversation reveals various aspects related to visa applications, including financial requirements, joint accounts, and guidelines about documentation needed for dependents.
I don't think it would work as for a retirement visa extension you need a single 'user' account, they don't accept a shared account so probably the same for other visa as well.
The DTV financial requirement is 500,000 baht which is about 21K Canadian. And you'll still need 20k baht equivalent just to enter the country in case they ask.
If you post on a public forum, learn to deal with the replies. Being correctly compliant is good advice. Too many arrogant people like you coming to Thailand treating it as a playground, looking to flex the rules. Get the funds in your name, treat Thailand with respect and be humble.
I will tell you the facts of life, no pension you work until you drop or inherit. Sorry i dont know your age i might have said different. I retired on company pension at 50, i came here everybody was older than me
What embassy do you plan to apply through? Some are less strict than others (e.g. Hanoi and HCMC in Vietnam). I was able to get DTV through HCMC embassy after transferring money in for just one day (the day before I applied.
Don't come Pattaya or Phuket or Sukumvit Bangkok, with that little money you'll be eaten alive and home in a few weeks. 555 Udon Thani etc, try somewhere like that. Then visit those places after you've got more money and have had some training by the local girls 555
That's $600. Honestly, if you don't have that much money, you shouldn't move here. You will put yourself in danger. What happens to you if there's an emergency? You don't even have $600? I have to spend more than double that in one day sometimes. My car insurance and health insurance is more than that. My daughter's school tuition is more than that. Sometimes, my vet bills are more than that. You're one emergency from bankruptcy.
Neither are guaranteed ways. You should check the requirements at the embassy you’ll apply at.
Just adding yourself to your dads account isn’t a guarantee bc they want to legitimately know tnah those are your funds and you have permanent access to them. Same way, a large transfer to your account right before you move will also raise flags about the validity of the funds and the true ownership. It’s not a hard no but it’s not guaranteed to work because you think you found a loophole.
If you had to do one, the best would be to transfer the money to your sole account 3-6 months before moving to prove both your ownership of the funds and that they aren’t a brand new transfer either.
Again, you should check what the embassy requirements are bit these are obvious workarounds that the governments are aware of and could require more documentation or raise questions about it.
Good luck though. I think there are lawyers or agents you can hire to make it a smooth process and answer questions.
And yes I would contact them and ask. It’s not illegal so you can just say I was planning to do this will it be sufficient? They should be able to guide you. But I’ve heard of people assuming it will work and getting denied because it’s sort of an obvious ploy
Aka it’s not a guarantee they’ll allow it. They are increasingly doubling down on money laundering prevention’s so anything suspicious can result in just flat nos
Glenny Lennox look from the embassy’s perspective. If they receive 3 months of bank statements with CAD16k and they see no 4th month statement where the funds where transferred to the account, there’s no red flag.
That means, applying for the visa is well over three months months in the future….
My advice is to wait a few months and saved up. If you move here and god forbid, you lose your online job or have an emergency, that saving will give you some buffer. You can’t live paycheck to paycheck living abroad without some emergency savings. Just my 2c. Good luck in any case.
imtylerdurden321 thank you and I totally see where you’re coming from. Actually my online job is more like a freelance position and before I quit, I made good money each month basically enough to support me in my home country so I know it’ll be more than enough in Thailand. but I see where you’re coming from
Andrew Downton I’m just now starting my online job. I’ve taken this job for the purpose of moving to Thailand, so it’s totally new and fresh. before this, I wasn’t working. My dad was paying my bills.
They need 3 months of bank statements in your name. Borrow 16,000 from your Dad, hold it for 3 ms then apply for DTV. You can’t spend it and you’ll need to leave country every 6 ms.
I see what you mean. When I was deciding about healthcare, I asked myself how many times did I go to the emergency room in the past couple years and the answer is 0! I also eat clean (vegan) so I have faith in my experience in Thailand and if I do get sick, I heard 711 has little charcoal packets people take 🤔
no, but if you have an accident or get sick, what will you do? Healthcare here is relatively cheap but camn still cost you thousands if something should happen to you. Just something to think about.
Darren Grist damn really? Well honestly, I think I need to stay in Thailand because I smoke medicinal marijuana for my chronic pain and it looks like it’s illegal in all of the surrounding countries lol
actually he does have more than double that amount. I’m just wondering because he’s willing to put my name on his bank account and it seems like a more simple process than him transferring me 20 K for me to transfer it back.
it needs to stay in your account for 5 months and can't ever dip below 400,000 baht during the remaining seven months,..... Call an agent, Thai visa centre are sound
, thanks, if here more than 180 days, a year, that money, minus, a small allowance if young, will be taxable? More than 1000 bucks, at the beginning of the year?
farang_jaii Okok 😭 as long as it works because I can support myself financially but in my home country paying 2K a month just to live isn’t cutting it for me anymore
