Can I use a joint bank account to meet the financial requirement for a Thai DTV visa?

Hi- sorry this has definitely already been posted before by someone else. Both me and my partner are looking to apply for DTV, the only issue we’re coming across is the 500,000 finance requirement. We’re able to obtain this but to both hold it in our account for 3 months each is looking like a stretch.

Does a joint bank account work? If it’s held in both our names? I’ve also seen you can get sponsorship but also seen a lot of places prefer not to.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual and their partner are unsure about the financial requirement for the Thai DTV visa, specifically if they can use a joint bank account to meet the 500,000 baht requirement. Several comments suggest that if they are not legally married, they should maintain separate accounts. If they are married, they might only need to show one account. It's important to consider the specific consulate's requirements, as some may be more flexible regarding financial documentation. Many expats have shared their experiences with using joint accounts or applying as dependents.

If you are legal partners with official documents, then having 500KB is ok, you don't have to keep 1MB. And you can submit an account only under your name for yours. Once your approves, apply for her, and submit same your statement.

Soft power? Workation? For remote workers it’s not always required to keep the amount for 3 months

When you say partner are you actually married or not? If you are not married you are treated as two individuals so each would have to apply separately. Probably best to avoid a joint account in that case too and each show there own funds.

I believe the UK has minimal seasoning requirements if any at all, but they do want to see 3 months of bank statements. You can use the group search tool to target results from a specific consulate.

We used a joint, I (non applicant) hand wrote a letter stating who I was, that the funds were accessible to my husband/the applicant whilst hes in Thailand. I took a photo of that with the biometric page of my passport.

We also attached our wedding certificate to the document (merged using Ilovepdf).
