Is it true that if you do a border run at the Chiang Khong/Huay Xai border you have to stay a minimum of two(2) nights in Laos?

It's suppose to be an enforcement from the Thai border dating from august 2024.

Further more do we still have a 60 days Thai Visa Exempt Stamp. This would be my 2nd so I should be ok.

Did my first border run this weekend from Chiang Mai to Huay Xai - after much research and overthinking I decided to book 2 nights in Laos to cover myself. Arrived at the friendship bridge and was given a card that said no 2 day run unless you had certain criteria (can't remember exactly but 10000thb available etc), told them I had a DTV visa and was then told by the lovely immigration officer 'oh you have DTV it's multi entry you can go and come back same day, sabai sabai!' 🙃

Not sure if i just got lucky with a nice IO but sharing this info in case it's helpful to anyone needing to do a run up north soon!

I am about to go to the border for a visa run near Pai. My driver just informed us that it is now advised 2 nights instead of 1 night. Anyone else needing to stay 2 nights in Huay Xai, Laos?

And after I get my new stamp after enter back to thai from huay xai can I get another 30 days extension ? Thanks in advance ..
