remember to carry at least 2k baht cash. You might need to pay a Laos visa fee of 1.8k baht. The bus to enter and exit Laos cost 25 baht per trip so 50 baht in total.

There was an advert in another expat group from a driver to that border. 2500 for DTV holders. Sorry cannot remember which group but if I come across it will share.
