Hi to you!

Is it true that if you do a border run at the Chiang Khong/Huay Xai border you have to stay a minimum of two(2) nights in Laos?

It's suppose to be an enforcement from the Thai border dating from august 2024.

Thanks!

Further more do we still have a 60 days Thai Visa Exempt Stamp. This would be my 2nd so I should be ok.

Thanks again for your help.

A canadian.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry concerns the requirement of a minimum two-night stay in Laos for border runs at the Chiang Khong/Huay Xai border, suggested to be enforced from August 2024. One commenter confirmed that this requirement existed previously, although they were uncertain about current standards. Another suggested obtaining a visa to avoid complications, while a third noted that same-day returns by border run were available only for DTV and E-visa holders.

From one of the Chiang Mai border run service providers:

Same-day return border option is currently available only for DTV visa and E-visa holders.

Why not get a visa so You don't have to worry?

Yes, if trying to leave and return visa exempt, this was the requirement before the new enforcement began. I don't know what it's like at those borders at the moment.

Also the news reported that if you enter via land border, you are not eligible for any extension.
