Small report: Just passed through Nong Khai Immigration (approx 19.00, taking the Vientiane - Nong Khai bus). I've lived in Thailand before, but this was my first visa-exempt border bounce (initial arrival in January, extended in March). I spent 1 week in Luang Prabang before coming back. Upon arriving at the checkpoint, the first policeman sent me to Room 15 to speak to the supervisor. He asked me what I was planning to do and to see a ticket out (which I had thankfully bought in advance), but did not ask to see ฿20,000 or any confirmed hotel bookings. I hope this helps someone.
Edit to add: I had heard anecdotally that flights to neighboring countries are looked at with some suspicion by the border guards, so I booked to South Korea. These are more expensive, but under Korean law all airlines must offer a rather generous refund policy. It might be worth considering this for your own situation as well.
My friend is cancelling her work permit and nonB to change into visa exemption 60days (border bounce). Can she do it in vientiane via train 133 (bangkok to khamsavath)? If so, where can she get the entry and exit stamps? Nong Khai station or does she have to go through khamsavath vientiane? Thank you 🙏
I'm planning to retire in Thailand over 60,live in England deposited 800 000 bhts last week into my thai bank account... confused my self with visa application, my plan is 60 tourist visa get a 30 day extension... apply for non o at nong khai immigration, early Dec!!
Planning first trip to Nong Kai then across the land border to Laos. I'm on Non O.
(1) If I want a multiple reentry permit, can I get it at the border checkpoint itself ( I have seen one report here - yes for single reentry permit - my question is about multiple reentry permit ). Or should I get it at the Nong Khai immigration office? Or in your experience better to get it locally like BKK?
(2) Not Thai Visa related but... best way to get Lao visa - eVisa (pls recommend website) or just walk up with required documentation at border is smarter?
Much appreciate answers to either question and thank you...
Hi this is a sort of visa related question I wonder if someone could answer,
Me and my girlfriend live in her house in Nong Khai, back in April I got a slap in the wrists when I went to extend my 60 day tourist visa as we hadn’t informed them of where I was staying, I arrived again last month but we’ve been travelling around staying in hotels so no issues, we’re now heading home and as I’ll probably extend again want to make sure they know so I don’t get told off again, what exactly do we need to do? I’ve seen online about a TM30 that the house master has to fill in and believe it can be done online, someone mentioned to me I would have to fill in a TM28 but I’m not sure as have been in several provinces and not filled one out. Thanks
Right. So, this will probably be of interest to absolutely no one. But I'll go ahead anyway since I'm happy. I went to extend my (tourist) stay at the Nong Khai immigration office today. I was the only "customer" there. If I had pre-filled the application form, it would've been around 10 minutes. What an incredible contrast! (To CW, of course :) )
They did not care about TM30 details, btw. So, application, passport photos, and the usual copies (data page, visa page (if any), current stamp page, and departure card.)
