Hi! I’m planning to fly to Bangkok next month. It will be my first time in Thailand. I have a DTV for digital nomad.
Do I need to show proof of an onward/return flight when checking in for my flight or when entering Thailand?
If immigration asks how long I’m planning to stay, is it fine to say that I’m planning to stay for the full 180 days, or is it better to say I’m planning a shorter stay?

I got asked for an onward flight when I checked in for my flight at SFO, which surprised me. I thought that might happen at immigration in Thailand. I was visa-exempt 60 day tourist (not DTV).

make sure your story corroborates the Tdac as if you do get pulled up you can be water tight. If you do want peace of mind Best Onward Ticket $14

That’s pretty much what I have in mind too! I’m landing in Bangkok and was thinking of slow-traveling north to Laos, and from there to Vietnam. But apart from Bangkok, I haven’t booked anything. I want to stay spontaneous and see where the road takes me.

I chose Thailand as my starting point for several reasons: I’m vegan and the abundance of fresh fruit and vegan food really appeals to me, I’ve heard so many positive things about the kindness of Thai people, the cost of living is relatively affordable, and Southeast Asia is generally considered a good region for women traveling solo.
My plan is to slow travel from Bangkok through northern Thailand, and possibly continue on to Laos and Vietnam.
Having a DTV doesn’t mean I have to stay in Thailand if I don’t enjoy it. It simply gives me the option and flexibility to stay longer if I do - which is exactly why I applied for it.
