just failed. The embassy in Vientiane requires the money to stay in the account longer. I have only left the money in the newly opened account in Thailand for more than half a month. and the account has only been opened for more than a month. I will leave the money in the account and try again in 4 months. I have enough cash and an apartment in Thailand but they do not care.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user reports their visa application was rejected at the embassy in Vientiane due to insufficient time the funds had been held in a newly opened Thai bank account. Despite having sufficient funds and an apartment in Thailand, the embassy emphasized the long-term requirement for the funds to remain in the account. Comments suggest exploring options with other banks, and experiences vary regarding the interpretation of financial requirements at different Thai consulates.

Why put the money in a Thai bank, when it can be in a wellknown bank in you homecountry.

How long does Bangkok require to have the $ in the bank account before applying for DTV? Sound like it has different requirement for different areas.

You should try a different consulate. In 4 months from now, most, if not all consulates will be on the e-visa system, most likely Laos as well (though so far, they haven't mentioned when they'll be moving to it).

What I'd be doing if I were you is waiting maybe a month or two and applying again in Yangon or somewhere other than Laos that is still accepting in person applications or relatively fast processed e-visas but where lengthy statements aren't required.

Ho Chi Minh requires 6 month statements BUT the funds can be recently transferred. Thus you would have been approved on the basis of the funds being in your account, however, since your bank account is still very new, that could be a problem there.

Anyway, wait until maybe mid to late October then see if an application in Yangon works for you.

@Paul ******
is there any reason why it's better to apply before e-visa system is in place?

I actually agree with this, I think Thailand is very smart, they don’t want people with very little finances coming into the country, they become a burden in one way or another, and they certainly don’t contribute to the economy of the country

@Klee *************
Yeah else people start shuffle money, is good to have the minimum months holding that balance or more, else the visa will be cancelled in no time again too.

You can take the money out as soon as you get the visa. No need to keep an ongoing balance.

@Paul ******
That's not the point; the point is it needs to be seasoned.

@Toby ************
Yes, it does need to be seasoned in Vientiane and Savannakhet. At other consulates, mostly no.

Why will they care about an apartment in Thailand which has zero liquidity? A house in the USA is almost like a liquid asset, but they still don't accept it.

@Deepak ******
an apartment or condo in Thailand has negative liquidity, it’s a burden, it’s certainly not an asset. It’s a liability.

Did you fail after waiting for 2 working days or did they reject your application outright?
Regmi *******
Out of curiosity, could it be a combination of 2 bank accounts ?

@Regmi ******
Some embassies accept that.

In an ideal world there would be one set of requirements about seeding the 500k that apply across the board. However, this is Thailand and even different Immigration Offices in country interpret the same requirements differently. Exam0les are Residence certificates? Extensions and TM30 requirements

@Greg *******
it wouldn’t even have to be that ideal, just reasonable.

It doesn't need to be a Thai bank account. It can be any bank account in your name. Is it an option for you to show the account where the money was prior to the transfer?

i'm trader crypto currency. I exchange to cash and put to bank account. 😆😆😆. I'm developer and i don't like bank for a long time

@Kaler ******
I think this visa just is not suitable for you, Thailand wants to attract people with enough easy accesible money which can be spend, and you don't like money on banks.
James *********
And are you sure that was the reason? 5 days ago you posted in this group asking about which soft power course is the cheapest? So you've booked something within the last post and applied and got denied 🤔?
