I will need to apply for a DTV from the UK embassy.
What are peoples experiences of applications through there?
Having looked through a lot of posts etc, I am still confused by what is actually required by the London embassy as requirements seem to differ greatly between locations.
I have been told that London only requires the bank balance on the month of the application, not 3 months, that they do not check previous earnings ( I do have them ) and other diffferences in some requirements.
I would be applying as a freelancer with a portfolio of apps and my marketing business.
Could people who have actually applied through the London embassy please confirm what the emabasy actually requested so I can be fully prepared.
There is so much conflicting information out there that I need a better perspective from people that have actually done it.
Long and short of it: Applied for the workacation category. Had the 500k thb spread across different accounts so sent bank statements from the past few months for current, biz and ISA. Sent a random selection of invoices from the past few years to show business viability. Wrote a quick letter saying I authorise myself to work remotely. Sent first page of incorporation documents and tax doc (just a letter saying it’s time to file). Sent drivers license and internet bill with address.
Additional documents requested were a formal letter addressed to the embassy introducing myself and my work, and stating I won’t be concerned with Thai laws or work with Thai clients. Also requested full company incorporation documents stating my name and position.
Prepared a formal letter and downloaded my incorporation documents direct from the public register. There was the option to order a certified copy of these but I just downloaded the pdf and sent that.
Day 1 - Submitted all docs (soft power cooking course)
Day 2 - Asked to book a flight (I hadn't initially) and provide an eticket from the actual airline website
Day 3 - Status changed to pending approval
Day 4 - Visa issued
It was really simple. The main challenge for me was that you can only submit one pdf in each category which has a maximum size of 3mb. Collating and compressing pdfs (ilovepdf is a great help)
My experience was a really simple and positive one. Just followed the application process and was careful not to make typos.
London embassy question: Seen a number of people say the London embassy required actual flight ticket from the airline, I have a flight booked but it's a return flight and the return date is within 60 days (something like 55). Has anyone applied with and uploaded such a ticket, just worried they'll give me an METV instead (seen that's happened) if they see I have a return within 60 days. Going soft power Muay Thai route.
Really impressed with the service and speed of processing (3 working days). This group was a big help to me in my research phase, so thanks to all members who contribute.
Chok dee to those who are still waiting for their DTV to be approved.
Hello all! Im applying for the DTV at the London Embassy. Just wondering if I book a flight a couple of months in advance can I still go ahead and apply for the visa now or should I wait nearer the time? Thank you!
