Good morning,

So i finally got my non-o retirement visa at Jomtien, based on 800k in the bank.

It says admitted on 10 november 2025 and valid until 7 february 2026.

They said I can apply for the one year extension after the 7th of january.

My last bankbook update is from the 28 october. This is an account i use only for the visa.

At what dates should i do bank moves and updates so the 800k appears correctly for the extension in January. I am afraid to screw it up...

Hope i am clear. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has successfully obtained a Non-O retirement visa based on having 800,000 THB in the bank. They are seeking guidance on how to manage their bank statements and transactions to ensure their funds appear correctly for their extension application in January. According to community responses, they need to update their bank book shortly before applying for the extension, ensuring a transaction occurs on the day of the application. It's also advised to prepare all necessary documents, including a bank letter, transaction history, and other paperwork related to the visa.

Must admit I thought the Non O visa or any visa for that matter could only be issued by an Embassy or Consulate and not by the immigration dept who in turn deal with extensions but not the actual issuing of visas

at most offices you can come in free stamp 60 day entry, bank the 800K baht and apply for the 90 day Non-O visa in country for 2000baht. it goes under review for usually 2 weeks then you go back to get the Non-O visa and a new 90 day stamp inked in. Then 2 months later you apply for the yearly extension

it's not a hybrid anything, many MANY people do the in country Non-O. Although with the difficulty in opening a bank account free stamp it is often easier to get the Non-O in your country before you come here, so you can open the account and get the funds in

cheers, I always thought that if someone arrived on 60 day stamp and applied for the Non O visa whilst in Thailand then the application process was done at the Embassy in Bangkok, and assumed that was why Visa agents charged a 'high fee' because of the hassle of dealing with Bangkok. I'll keep your info in mind for myself and my mates, nice one ☝️

Yes, of course, but what I meant is that the solution itself is, from a technical and system-level perspective, more or less a hybrid setup where you formally apply for a visa but are stamped directly in on a stay permit. Naturally, under the same conditions as those who enter on a visa.

dunno what you're saying sorry.

Applying for an in country visa, as soon as they ink it in they stamp USED on it and then give you the stamp that visa allows you.

It is most likely just a "hybrid solution" that has emerged to address a need, and you are stamped directly in on a stay permit.

Okay you have the 90 day Non-O visa now

AND

You can apply for the year extension when you have 30 days or less left (so your date of after Jan 7th is correct)

You need to get the standard bank letter, the 3 month detail transaction history print out

AND

you need to update the bank book the day you apply at the immigration office (by putting in 100baht to the account so the passbook shows a transaction and updates that day)

Not to mention you need all the documents you used when you applied for the Non-O visa because the year extension is a completely new process, so passport copies, lease, TM30, landlord i/d etc, and the TM7 application for extension form

and this is the general list of requirements for a year extension based on retirement

it is NOT office specific so your office might want more than these things

I would go to your immigration office next month and get the hand out listing the requirements at that specific office for the year extension

ok thank you, i will get the letter again from the bank. Just to be sure about the bankbook: let's say I do the extension the 9th of january, i need to do a transaction that day and have one for november and one for december that show up the 800k on the balance for the bankbook for those months?

you need to update the bank book the day you apply for the extension (and if that means put money in or take money out to make the machine print the update with the balance and the date you apply that's what you have to do)

AND

You need the bank to print out a 3 month transaction detail report (even though it sounds like you don't have any transactions on that account)
