TLDR : Answer Summary
Embassy officers in Vientiane, Laos now require visa applicants to open a bank application for verification of their submitted bank statement. Applicants should ensure they have sufficient phone data to access the app. Additionally, there are questions regarding the type of bank account acceptable and the months of required balance to qualify for the One Year Non-O Visa as married to a Thai national.

Thank You for your report.

I assume that you were making an application for the One year Non O Visa as Married to Thai?

You say that the Embassy is asking you to both show them the proof of your having a bank account balance of 400,000 Thai baht or more...

.... how many MONTHS ? 2 or ???

.... can you show a bank account balance in any Bank, including your home country?

... or does it have to be in a Thai bank account in your name?

And they want you to use your phone app.... And Open Up your bank account website On-line and show the Embassy Officer the bank account balance ???

I was applying for a tourist visa (60 days), and I observed that a few people were turned away because they couldn't prove their bank statements. The person before me submitted a bank statement in EUR from his country, and the officer asked to show his current balance. There seemed to be a discrepancy in the balance submitted. Unfortunately, I don't know how it ended for him. For me, I just showed mine and all went well.

I showed a bank statement from Kasikon Bank that I opened a few months ago while I was on an ED visa. I had doubts if they would insist on a bank statement from my home country, but the officers did not say anything.
