TLDR : Answer Summary
To retire in Thailand without a monthly retirement salary of 65,000 Baht, you can consider obtaining a retirement visa by maintaining a balance of 800,000 Baht in a Thai bank account. This requirement means you can bypass the monthly income proof initially. Some commenters recommend using a visa agent for assistance, while others suggest visiting Thailand beforehand to understand living conditions better.

Baht will not be enough, the first year you need to have 800.000 Baht in a Thai bank to get a retirement visa.

If you then every month of the first year transfer more than 65.000 baht to Thailand, then you can use that as documentation for the 2. year.

You should start by visting Thailand for several months before considering to get a retirement visa, everyday life is far from holiday life.

Use a visa agent to get retirement visa if you don't have 800,000 to keep in the bank

If you can’t fullfill the visa requirements, then you should not get a visa in a wrongful way.

I survived there adequately on 15,000 THB a month, but I don't have rent, electricity or water to pay and stay up country in Isaan farming community with zero crime and smiling happy poorish farm people. They can keep the likes of Pattaya for me thankyou.

It's not to survive here... It's to satisfy Immigration's requirements

nope 65,000 per month is not a sole requirement. You have other options such as a deposit. If the post’s author doesn’t have a 65,000 income they don’t need it and can live here off of less.

if you have 800,000thb in the bank you can get a retirement visa. didn't worry about the 65,000 a month. just keep 800,000 in the Thai bank and you will get a yearly retirement visa

you will find it very difficult to open a bank account in Thailand on any form if tourist Visa or Visa exempt. Obtain thev90 day non o Visa in your home country for which you can show required funds in your home country bank. Travel to Thailand and open a bank account at any of the multitude of banks here. I would recommend Krungsri, Krungthai or Kasikorn. Get your

it may be below 800k for some short periods, but when you need extention you need at least 800k at that moment, so practically, just keep the 800k there.
