Hi

Myself and my wife both over 50 retired and both uk citizens looking who intend to apply for a Thai non -o visa , should we apply jointly or individually ?

If we applied together can we have a joint bank account like we do in the uk?

As I understand it if we apply individually we would both need to deposit 800 k in an account which we could do but looking for advice as to what’s easiest route to go .

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The questioner, a UK citizen over 50, is seeking advice on whether to apply jointly or individually for a Thai Non-O visa with their spouse. Comments suggest that applying individually might be more straightforward, as many immigration offices do not accept joint accounts for the visa requirements. Individual applications also allow easier access to Thai bank accounts. Some commenters advised obtaining separate 90-day visas based on retirement before arrival in Thailand.

We moved over last year from the UK . And both had to apply for a Non O individually. Then both opened bank acc on arrival and deposited the 800.000 we are currently changing my wife’s over to banked 65,000 a month .

Get separate type O 90 day visas based on retirement before you come to Thailand. This will give both of you the ability to easily get Thai bank accounts. First not all immigration offices accept joint accounts with the bt1.6million for your one year extensions the first year. Also, it is real convenient for you both to have a Thai bank account here, with most moving to scan to pay with a Thai bank account.

I don't think the embassy in the UK will issue a dependant (trailing spouse) visa to your wife if you get the Non-O based on being over 50 so you will each need your own visas. Joint accounts generally need double the money in them as it gets split across account holders
