# Update in 2024 on Education Visa and Traveling abroad: Has anyone with the ED visa while living in Thailand travelled abroad recently? Any problems when coming back into Thailand? If so, how do I ensure it is smooth when I come back?

Background

1. I might have to travel abroad to USA for a Funeral of my Uncle - maybe 1 week. Then maybe to China as we have family there too, 1 week. So perhaps 2-3 weeks away before returning back. I am about 3 months out of 1 year into my ED Thai Language Study Visa.

2. My University delivers its coursework online. My agent and the school assured me that this is fine and stated that I could travel abroad if I decide to do so - I confirmed this prior to applying for the ED Visa. They can write me a letter stating I'm a current student. I have my student ID and coursework on my phone in PDF format as well

3. I believe that my Thai is better than 90% of students who have studied the same time I have (3 months). This is because I do daily immersion lessons on my own (outside of class). I can explain exactly why I had to leave the country in Thai. I need to learn a few vocabulary words though.

4. I'm aware I need a Re Entry Permit prior to travel

Question regarding obtaining a re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi.

I’m flying out of Suvarnabhumi tonight due to an emergency in my home country. I usually get my re-entry permit at my local Immigration office before I leave, unfortunately there is no time for this.

My flight is at 11 pm at night and I will only be able to pass through security and go to the gate fairly last minute as I am on waiting list..

Is the re-entry permit counter open 24 hours? Since I don’t have tons of spare time between passing through Security and boarding my flight. Could I have any issues with the counter not being manned or this process taken a long time?

I’ve been hearing conflicting information from friends who have been through the airport recently.

I'm 6mths in on Non-Immigrant O-A Visa, Stamped in 7/19/22. But Visa DOC expires 7/5/23. Must be used (for my free year/Border bounce) by 7/4/23. I'm all set for that.

Now I find I have to go the USA for couple weeks (Emergency). Don't want anything to interfere with any of those VISA plans/ free year.

Can I simply purchase the 'Re-entry 'stamp, or whatever its called, to use as 1-time out and in? Not even presenting or worrying about my VISA DOC? I really can't afford to screw this up. I have planted deep roots here now and love it (: Any full explanation of this would be greatly appreciated.

I travel from USM via BKK. Do I get this is USM or in BKK and if so where?

Hello dear fellow group members.

I received my new passport 1 week ago, but haven't had the time to go to Chaeng Watthana immigration yet to transfer the visa extension based on marriage to a thai citizen into the new passport. I was planning to go this week or next week. However, a family emergency has occured that kept me quite busy in the past few days and I must fly to Canada ASAP.

Question: Do I need to do the transfer before I leave the country, or can I just bring both the old and new passport to airport immigration and they'll let me go? Any consequence to this?

Good morning, the new rules will be published in the Royal Gazette soon but maybe somebody can answer my question already: I plan to apply for test & go in February but will not stay 5 days but shorter. How do I apply for the Thailand Pass under these circumstances ? Still apply for two nights and cancel the second day later? I doubt the application will be approved with only one night booking. Unfortunately there is no chance that I stay longer as my trip is rather not a fun trip but an emergency …

My daughter has her visa in her British passport, which expires in June 2022. We need to travel urgently for a family emergency (so she would return with less than 6 months validity on her British passport).

She also has a second passport - Australian - that expires October 2022.

Can someone advise what the best course of action is? Will Thailand accept her back into the country with less than 6 months passport validity? Or could she return on Australian passport? (I can see returning on Australian passport would make things very messy)

Left Phuket 10 days ago for a family emergency and now scheduled to fly back Dec. 3rd. Already applied for Thailand Pass. I can move my flight up to tomorrow but without QR code from Thailand Pass what would be the point? Anybody have anybody have a Hail Mary pass suggestion? Would be much appreciated.
