What are the tax implications for leaving Thailand after 180 days on a DTV due to an emergency?

Anyone re-stamped in on their DTV who had to leave after spending 180 accumulated days for an emergency, are we subject to taxation and how does that work? And re-entry…

My grandmother just died and her funeral is in a few days… I have my dog here with me without time to make arrangements for him to fly back with me, and my resources are stretched pretty thin to do all this right now… I can get the means to get back once I get to my country but right now stuck within the stretch of a one way ticket and unsure of potential taxation… a lot of moving parts to sort out in very limited time if I am going to be able to attend her funeral. I was heartbroken that I was unable hug her one last time, but if I am able I would like to be there to pay my respects and try to be a comfort to my mom and the rest of my family

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question addresses concerns about potential taxation after spending 180 accumulated days in Thailand on a DTV visa and needing to leave urgently due to a family emergency. Responses clarify that if the individual has not earned income in Thailand, there is likely no tax liability for the previous year and they have until March to file any due taxes for the current year, emphasizing that personal circumstances should take priority.

First sorry for your loss.

I not understand, you tell that your resources are streched pretty thin, Stuck with a one way ticket??

Go home, pay your respects, keep working on-line and when saved enough, arrange transport for your dog and yourself back into Thailand.

If you are just coming up to your 1st 180 days now and haven't spent more than 41 days in Thailand last year prior to entering on your DTV you will have no thai tax liability for last year unless you worked in Thailand or had a condo you rented out or similar. Even if you did hit the 180 days inside Thailand last year you don't need to file and pay any tax due until the end of March. For this year if you are inside Thailand for 180 days or more and bring in assessable income you have until the end of March next year to file and pay any tax due

You are overthinking the taxation situation. Get to your grandmother's funeral and do not stress about it.

If you were to pay taxes that would be in March next year. I wouldn't worry at all about that.

Also, for tax matters it's always calendar years, and cumulative. More than 180 days in 2025 make you a tax resident. If you have to file, you'd be filing in March 2026 for that.

Said so, if you're in a DTV probably you have nothing or almost nothing to pay, as you're not earning any money from here.
