Hi all,

I have a question regarding the 60 days tourist visa. i applied for it and i was told it takes around 7 days to get an answer. its already 2.5 weeks after and my request is still under "processing" and my flight is 10 days away. what happens if i dont get a response on time and i arrive there and get the 30 days stamp and only afterwards i get approved and have 60 days visa. should I refer to the visa I received upon arrival or the 60 days visa that i got approved online even though i got it after arriving Thailand and being stamped for 30 days?
Answer summary
A user has applied for a 60 days tourist visa but is facing delays, as their application is still processing 2.5 weeks later, with their flight approaching. They are concerned about what happens if they arrive in Thailand and receive a 30 days stamp at immigration while waiting for their visa approval. Community members provided insights indicating that if the visa is granted after entry, it won't change the 30 days stamp. They also highlighted that to benefit from the 60 days visa, one would need to leave Thailand and re-enter.

The stamp in your passport says 30 days. That’s all you get. You would have to leave Thailand and re-enter to a get the 60 days the visa gives you.

Despite what the internet says, high season actually starts in October. My wife is a tour guide and October to March are her busiest months.

If you leave the country of residence before you get the approval it will automatically be cancelled.

Neil Haigh why cancelled? You get it by email and can use it after leaving Thailand after 30 days and come back.

You will probably enter visa exempt and not visa on arrival. That's a difference.

If you receive your visa when you are in Thailand doesn't matter anymore. You would have to leave the country and enter again with that visa to benefit from it.

But you should be aware that your airline could deny boarding if your exit flight is not within the 30 days which you would get under the visa exemption scheme.

The only thing that matters is the stamp in your passport. Whether you get a visa or not after you are stamped into Thailand is irrelevant, as that will not change the stamp in your passport.
