I have submitted for DTV visa - dependence for my 1 year old boy from my home country. Now I has been over 14 days and we haven’t got the approval yet. And we have some urgent issue to go to Thailand now.

“Is it possible if we travel to Thailand with visa free 1st”, then we go out and enter Thailand again after my son gets DTV visa ??

Will it cause any problem ??

Thanks in advance ❤️🙏
Answer summary
The user is seeking advice on whether they can enter Thailand visa-free while waiting for their 1-year-old son's DTV visa approval, which has been pending for over two weeks. Community responses highlight the complexities of visa processing and potential risks involved in leaving the home country during the application process. Some suggest contacting the embassy for an expedited outcome, while others share personal experiences related to similar situations. Overall, entering Thailand without the visa is risky, but there may be a possibility of approval upon arrival.

Does anyone know about the dtv process changes I’d already left my country because the process was back logged discovered that laws changed while travelling international and now Im wondering if I’d have to go all the way back America to apply and wait for dtv to process or go for temp residence here and then try for dtv

If you leave your resident country during the visaprocess, it is basis of rejection and loss of the 10.000 baht visafee.

Now is high season for visa applications so it may take longer to get visa processed, than the time mentioned at the Embassy website, or they may process according to traveldate, not apply date.

Request for additional documentation will reset the clock to zero on the day the documents is submitted.

No you can't do that

could you explain why this wouldn't be possible?

For example, if someone has a Thai e-Visa application pending, why couldn't they enter Thailand under the visa exemption scheme for 30 days, then leave Thailand and re-enter once the visa has been approved?

Wouldn't Thai immigration be able to see the approved e-Visa in their system when the person re-enters?

Is there an official rule that specifically prohibits this?

Ilpo Luoma-aho many consulates require you remain within their jurisdiction while a visa application is being processed but I don't believe any will continue to process your application if they discover you have entered Thailand. There's even been examples of people being denied entry to Thailand on the DTV in such circumstances

I did this for myself and my daughter, expecting the application to be cancelled, but it was fine.

So you already have your VISA correct? It is your son’s still outstanding?

Immigration actually doesn’t penalise young children or even really present a problem for them (I mean specifically based on visa status) up until the age they have to attend school and then need specific paperwork.

Obviously it would be irresponsible of me to suggest you arrive on a visa exemption etc. and then overstay but in reality the penalties for a one year old don’t exist…

Typically someone entering Thailand prior to VISA completion is about a 20-30% success rate (please note system updates are coming in thick and furiously so it’s an ever changing landscape) but in the case of your son the same logic of not penalising kids would (I assume based on processing hundreds of these over several years) probably make that a 40%-50% chance.

Please note these are gut and experience based anecdotal evidence numbers I am giving but as a father I am simply saying “It might be okay to go and he may still get approved anyways, good luck mate”

2 weeks is the average global processing time but three weeks is not unheard of.

Typically emailing the embassy (Dependants are normally very straight forward with a far higher success rate) in a case like yours can get an expedited outcome; in some cases as soon as the next day so emailing them is the smart move.

Good luck man!

Can you tell me which embassy and I might know their vibe and SOP?

Genuinely good luck! 🤞

From the sounds of visa process, most of the time it will cancel your DTV application if you arrive without the approval and you may need to start again.

If not that, it comes with a great risk.

I applied for my son and myself (awhile ago) and our flights are at the end of next week to Thailand.

I called to intend to ask some questions if I could go to Thailand while pending, but instead the man on the phone was polite and asked me what my last name was, when my flight was, and then assured me I would be able to make my flight and hear from them by the next two days.

Within the hour, my application went to pending document check to pending approval and approved within 28 hours from the change of pending approval (talk about a miracle!)

I would contact the embassy & may the miracles be on your side 💖📿
