Are the Thai embassies aware that their checklist for required documents for the tourist visa is a long time out of date?

I need some advice. I was helping my parents with their visa for Thailand and it got rejected for ā€œincorrect travel document.ā€ They are U.S permanent residents (green card holders) and they have a travel document ā€œReentry Permitā€ issued from US homeland Security. They were able to obtain a Lao visa but not a Thai visa? I called the Thailand embassy in Washington and they told me that they do not accept reentry permits. So what is the correct document/ travel document I need? Thanks in advance!

Could a british expat help with this, preferably someone that's gone through the process in recent years, cos us old schoolers had it very different 20yrs ago when u just popped in to your local consulate.

The online E visa is stating I need 2 types of insurance, which do I actually need and where is best to go for best rate?

The police criminal record clearance, is the Police Certificate obtained from ACRO for Ā£65 what they actually want?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Edit: My IO is in Jomtiem.

Hello, my non o visa is due for extension on 10 December 2024, under the 800k method. My plan next year is to use the 65k per month when I renew on 10 December 2025. So my question is, if I want to change method, when do I need to make the first 65k transfer please ? My plan is to commence 65k transfers in November 2024 so by the time I try for extension in December 10 2025, I will have 12/13 monthly transfers to show. Does this work? Another question is, I intend to withdraw 400k, 3 months after my 2024/5 extension, do I have to keep 400k until 2 months before December 2025 when I change methods ? Do I put the other 400k back in 2 months before, so that when I change methods in December 2025, I have 800k and 12 months receipts for the 65k method? A long post sorry, I couldnā€™t see this in previous posts. Thanks

Please could someone who is knowledgeable help me out? I applied on the Thai embassy in Londonā€™s website for a non O retirement visa which was granted and it even says retired on the visa print off which I received from the embassy via email. I have just been to the Bank of Bangkok to open a bank account so I can transfer the 800,000 baht to start the two month process off in order to be granted a yearā€™s extension but the lady in the bank is telling me that I only have a tourist visa. Iā€™m confused as there was nothing else I could apply for on the embassy website so now Iā€™m worried that I wonā€™t find a way around it. Thanks in advance for any help. I have heard that Bangkok bank can be difficult to open an account with so if there is another bank that is more leanient I would try there. Iā€™m going to call immigration and see if they can help but I get the worrying feeling that Iā€™m back to the start again of going to be a forever tourist which ideally I donā€™t want to be as I wish to buy a vehicle and have the full benefits a retirement visa offers.
