How long can each visit to Thailand be with an American passport. If I plan on staying for 6 months initially and possible plans to stay longer , what kind of visa will I eventually need: I am 39 so won’t qualify for retirement visa.

Thank you

I'm looking for some visa options. Can ED visa be multi entry? What other options are there for visas? I'm in my 30s. I have my own business and don't qualify for LTR (that I know of). Thank you :)

I’m looking for some advice. I want to stay in Thailand long term. I am on a covid visa and have been here for 8 months. It expires on the 26th. I was going to purchase the elite visa until recently, I may now go into business here and set up a limited company. I am not 100% sure yet. I was thinking of leaving the country and coming back in on a tourist visa then changing that over to a business visa when the company is established. However time is not on my side and I’m confused about which way to go. I don’t think I can set up the company beige my visa expires on the 26th etc. any advice?

Hi.

UK expat arrived Jan 21st on visa exempt.

Planning on applying for over 50 visa.

I have the funds in my Thai bank account ( well seasoned 6 months plus) and a long term condo lease.

What is the process?

Apologies if this gets asked a million times, every case seems to be slightly different.

Hi everyone looking for some advice. Not looking immediately but I. The next year I was hoping to move to Thailand.

I guess because of COVID visas are very different now. But can anyone advise what it was like or how I can get a long term stay in country.

If a border visit is needed each 3 months it’s not the end of the world. But any advice would be really appreciated. Oh and I won’t be employed by any Thai company’s if that makes a difference.

Thanks you 🙏🏼

Hi all. I bought a condo in Thailand and have been attempting to live in it on a career sabbatical but run into visa issues due to too many entries as a tourist. I got turned away at Krabi airport and deported to KL (after being locked in a mouldy room with a sofa and no bedding, no shower, no soap overnight - if anyone is thinking of chancing it at Krabi airport, don't arrive in the evening!). I then got back in with a 30 day tourist stamp by land (sleeper bus from KL to Hatyai - very long, slow process for the big coaches at Sadao crossing, i recommend being in a car or minivan if anyone does this visa run).

My primary question is: will I be able to extend my stamp another 30 days at local immigration office as I have done 1 time previously this year? Rejected extension I could deal with, but is there any chance they arrest me and deport me when they see the red deportation stamp?

Secondary question: once we hit 2020 do I get a clean slate regarding how many tourist entries?

p.s. I have income and savings overseas. I just want to live here and put my money into their economy. It's pretty ironic they make this so difficult to do without getting a job or becoming a student, as it kinda pushes me towards renting out my property and taking that money out of their economy and spending it somewhere else. Not in their interests, you'd think. This might require a separate thread, but is there any way around this for long term stay for someone not old enough for a retirement visa, not married to a Thai and not looking for a job here?

I am an active partner in a Puerto Rican company that exports services to the US, and soon Canada and the UK. I also have Real Estate income and Stocks in the US and Netherlands. I would like to get the Elite visa but I am concerned about working and possible tax consequences that might come with living in Thailand. Are there legal ways I could live in Thailand on that visa and avoid being Taxed by Thailand? Are there other ways to stay in Thailand long term maybe buying a small condo or something and continue operating my business as normal?

I know this is not a Malaysian visa group. But if anyone knows if the MM2H visa would be a better fit given my situation I would like to know about that as well.

Also what happens if you lose your passport with the Elite visa and if you get the 5 year can it be extended to the 20 later on?

Thanks for any tips or help!

Hi,

Just looking for some advice.

I have been in Thailand for 2 years, with the exception of going to Australia for 3 months, and back home to Ireland for 5 months.

On return to Thailand in August, the IO argued with me and told me I had to leave in 2 weeks, as I am not a ‘tourist’ when I explained to her I had a boyfriend here. She told me I cannot stay in this country long term to be with my boyfriend as it is not a valid reason.

However my passport had 60 day stamp, which I used and extended with no issues in Samui, they only mentioned that the IO in Bangkok made a ‘remark’ on my passport.

This is now up for renewal in 2 weeks, meaning I will be actually leaving and returning to Thailand for the first time after the issues in Bangkok.

I’m planning to do visa via Andaman Club.

Is this a big risk as I had problems previously in Bangkok? I really would not like to be sent to my home country in those circumstances.

Maybe going home and trying for a more promising visa such as Ed visa is better? And yes I would actually study.

I know there is no exact answer for this but any advice on other people’s experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance 🙏🏼
