I’m a little confused. I understand that the Non-O visa is the most popular option for retiree’s looking to stay long term in Thailand. But this visa requires that you deposit 800,000 Bhat in a Thai bank and is good for one year. It is my understanding that this money is mine and I can get it back should I choose to end this visa.
But there is another visa called a Thailand Privilege Visa that is a 5 year visa that only requires 650,000 Bhat with multiple entry provisions. Is this 650K a fee that must be paid to the Thai Government in order to obtain this visa, or do I also get that money back should I choose to end this visa?
If so, why would anyone choose the Non-O over the Thailand Privilege Visa?
