I came to Laos on a 14-day visa-exempt after being told by the agent that I would get my DTV approved here within a week. The agent applied for my visa but filled in my name incorrectly during so my visa was cancelled. I reapplied for it myself the very day, but was only able to pay the next day. Because of this, I only have one week left on my visa-exempt stay here. I saw in this group that someone who applied on the 14th or 15th had their interview scheduled for the 28th. I don't have enough time left if the interview is going to be in 2 weeks. I was planning to do a visa run to Thailand and back into Laos, but it says online that I'm supposed to remain in Laos the whole time the visa is being processed, and that it would affect my DTV activation otherwise. What can I do? Is it possible to extend my visa-exempt stay at the immigration office? (I was reading on Google, and most said I can't, but an agent I met outside the embassy said he could do it for me, but it takes 5 days. I'm not sure if I should or could trust him.)

P.S I knew the name was the issue because the embassy told me the name was the problem in the cancellation email.

For using monthly transfers to document income for extension of stay based on marriage or retirement, is it required to be one sum transfer, or can it be spread over multiple as long as it amounts to the required total?

Thanks in advance for your expertise.

Hi All. I have emailed the embassy in UK regarding a query I have. I work offshore in oil and gas on a rotational basis remotely and wondered if that would be a suitable occupation to be accepted for DTV in the remote category. Does anyone have any experience in this? My email to London Thai Embassy is as follows:

Hello,

I hope you're doing well. I work offshore remotely, and I'm writing to inquire if this is a suitable occupation to successfully get accepted for a Destination Thailand visa in the remote work category. Can you please provide more details on this and let me know if it's an option?

Thank you very much for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.

Once I have a response, I'll share here. Thanks

For those who had interviews which route did you go? Workation or soft power?

Thai police have arrested 11 individuals, including four bank employees in Pattaya, for assisting 15 Chinese nationals in opening bank accounts with forged documents. Over 118 million baht was laundered through these accounts before the suspects left Thailand. Authorities have since frozen the accounts and linked the case to a larger scam network responsible for over 2.2 billion baht in damages.

According to our government sources, DTV visa holders may face increased difficulty opening bank accounts in the future.

Furthermore, accounts opened at the Bangkok Bank Pattaya branch are likely to come under scrutiny, and any foreigners found using accounts opened through agents connected to the arrested individuals may be subject to police interrogation.

At this time, we strongly advise individuals seeking to open a bank account in Thailand to use only trustworthy agents with no business ties to Chinese nationals.

Such agents are likely to be involved with Chinese criminals and scammers. When choosing someone to help you, make sure it’s an agent you can truly trust—not just a random person who DMs you on the internet.
