I believe it'd be a good idea if we could post the pros and cons of every embassy. I'll start with my experience in taipei/taiwan:

Pros: they are pretty fast when it comes to check the documents. They usually reply to the emails within a few hrs.

Cons: EXTREMELY picky when it comes to check the documents, they require payslips and everything about your job even you apply for soft powers. They ask for a certificate of entry/exit in the country which requires to go to the local immigration office. They often ask for an interview which is everything but friendly. They want to check that your company pays you regularly and they want to see the money going into your account for a few months (even under soft powers)

Would I recommend this embassy? NO, It was a very stressful process, I got asked for a lot of extra documents (also from the gym) and some of them didn't even make sense. After mailing them dozens of pages, I still got asked to have an interview which took place 10 days after my documents got checked. The interview felt like a police one (why are you going to thailand, how many times have u been there, why do you want to train, have u ever trained before? where are u going to stay, how long will the contract of your condo be, how long do you want to stay in thailand, how will you support yourself, why did you apply in taiwan, how can you live there without a job and so on). I repeat, Taiwan isn't a good place to apply for a visa, it's actually a very stressful embassy

When using soft power make sure your school / gym etc includes documents to establish they are legitimate and professional. Just an invite letter on its own rarely gets accepted these days. Another tip is make sure the establishment is on Google maps and has a data check on there so people can see company registration details.

hi, i'm a freelance web designer. My main client is an Australian development house. I do a lot of design work for one of their customers an online crypto casino. Do you think the Thai government would have an issue in giving me a DTV visa if i'm creating designs for an online casino but not working for them.

Hello,

My husband and are are planning a move to Thailand. We plan on spending 5-6 months in a row in the country each year.

We are US citizens

We make 2,000 a month (social security)

We have 210K USD in savings

My husband is 69 years old

I am 39 yrs old.

We currently live in France.

We are planning on purchasing a rental property that will increase our income to 4,000 USD per month.

Can we get a DTV as retired people?

I have been reading the posts on here for some time and had my non-o based on retirement all planned out. Now there is a fly in the ointment!

I am a dual citizen of UK/Aus. Resident in Aus for 19 years and have always used my Aus passport to enter the Kingdom. I was going to move as soon as my visa was granted having applied via e-visa to Canberra embassy. It now looks like I need to go to UK shortly after I retire albeit for only a few weeks. My question is if I am granted the non o in Aus and then travel to the UK returning to Thailand will this be ok?

Background: Anyone who has spent time in the ‘Rose of the North’ probably knows Chiang Mai immigration is notorious for being extremely busy with hundreds of people queuing per day starting before sunrise.

Lamphun office is tiny and barely sees anyone.

Question: if someone stays one night in Lamphun and gets the property to file a TM30, can you use the Lamphun office for an extension on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry?

It’s a 30 minute drive and rooms from 300฿. Why not have an overnight holiday to save spending 8-12 hours at immigration?

I’ve convinced my friends to try this so they don’t lose a day of their holiday.

Am I wrong? If so, the group will tell me quickly.

I bank with Krungsri. For years I have maintained a 800k balance. I would like to switch to the 65k per month option. I use Wise to transfer monies to my Krungsri account. I always select the 'funds for long term option'. How can I be sure my transfers meet Immigration requirements?
