Hi thought I’d share our experience after reading a few post about immigration at Don Mueang asking questions on re entry to Thailand after bouncing out , we arrived in Thailand in September on the 60 day waiver and extended it by 30 days , we then flew to da nang for 5 nights this week and arrived back yesterday and at the counter the officer asked why we were here to which we replied holiday , she then called a supervisor who took us to another desk round the side as asked us to take a seat and asked how long we were here for , we told her for 60 days and we would ask for extension again for 30 and we fly back to the uk in march , so we were just open and honest with our plans and showed her our flight booking , she went away done some computer work and went through our passports then called us over and stamped us in which the usual 60 days and no further questions asked , now we came over and did similar last November on a 60 day tourist visa then extended then went to Cambodia for 5 nights came back stamped in for 30 and then 30 extension and flew home in April then as above we came back in September so think they are concerned with the amount of times we come in and out , we also feel the outward flight booking made a big difference as they are not daft and obviously counted the 60 and 30 and saw the flight out matched that, I would also add that they were extremely friendly and professional with no sign of any resentment in fact we even had a laugh when one lady officer came over and flopped into a chair and closed her eyes , you need to sleep I said , yes it’s too busy she laughed 😂

I just want to clarify the insurance requirement for the LTR visa.

The Thai Consulate website states "... or social security benefits insuring treatment in Thailand."

After going back & forth with the LTR Visa Unit in Thailand for the past several days on exactly what this statement means, it seems that by "social security" they are referring to healthcare coverage an applicant is entitled to from their home-country government. This makes sense, since it is meant as an alternative to health insurance. In the U.S., social security means something different; it is not healthcare & therefore does not satisfy the requirement.

Fortunately for American military retirees, in an email I received this morning, 12-06-2024/2566, from the LTR Visa Unit, "Tricare or US military healthcare [i.e., FMP if one collects VA disability] meets the requirements for the LTR visa, so you do not have to apply for separate health insurance." For those 65 or older, you must opt in for Medicare Part B to retain Tricare coverage, which is then called Tricare for Life.

On a separate issue, once the BOI endorses your application, you are not required to annually or otherwise update Thai Immigration regarding your eligibility, meaning your visa is essentially maintenance free at least until the five-year renewal point. Plus, they said address reporting is only required annually, vice quarterly, & then only if you haven't left the country.

One other note: for Americans, they mostly rely on annual IRS 1040s for proof of income (total reported divided by number of names included on 1040), though this is not a hard-&-fast rule. Letters from appropriate authorities can be submitted as proof, as well as your written explanation for why you don't file taxes or why there might be a discrepancy or two between your stated income & what the 1040 shows. As an example, VA disability is not reported on 1040s.

Hi ☺️

I own a company in Bulgaria, working as an international commodities trader. I am the sole employee of the company, working remotely on a regular basis and managing everything through the company’s international bank account.

Do I meet the requirements to apply for the visa? Is my status sufficient? Would I need to transfer funds to my personal account, or would it be enough to present the company’s account? Or should I show both?

I'm still processing the visa now but had to take my flight back from Hong Kong to Thailand before it was finished or granted. Is it still possible to get it or should I return to Hong Kong to process further?

Hi everyone, I’m planning to apply for the DTV visa in Vientiane, Laos and have a question about the bank statement requirement. My bank account (not a Thai account) currently has the equivalent of 500,000 THB but it only reached that amount around 45 days before my appointment date. Before November, my balance was about half of the required amount.

Has anyone been approved in a similar situation where the required balance was recent? Would love to hear your experiences or advice!! 🙏
