Asking for a family member. A 74 year old Swiss citizen wants to retire in Thailand. Regarding health insurance, is it mandatory under Thai law (like in Switzerland) or not? Given her age, can she have health insurance at all? Also, which visa is best in her case? Thanks

I would just like to enquire if any of our members are on on DTV 5year multiple entry Medical Tourist Visa. One of the requirements is a letter of invitation from a hospital in Thailand. I am looking at setting up in Jomtien area or south of their. I am a diabetic. Can you recommend a world class hospital possibly that has a section suited for diabetic care that I can inspect and ask for a letter?You not require medical insurance, but as a safety net I would like to be covered for incidents like road accidents , Physio, Choiro.I am assuming medical insurance may be difficult to get if you have a pre-existing condition like diabetes. I am reaching out as a diabetic as I monitor my HB1AC every 3 months, yearly ophthalmologist checks, podiatry checks, exercise programs, etc. I realise the Hospitals are all world class in Thailand, but I am looking at Specific diabetic treatment from members who suffer from this chronic disease. If you use annother facility , not in the Jomtien area of Thailand please share or PM me direct.If you could share a name of medical insurer that has the best benefits for Diabetes would be appreciated as well as a hospital clinic would be appreciated. I believe you need less money in the Thai Bank Account which means the rest of the money can be earning interest from the country come from. Please PM if you are on a Medical Tourist Visa.

Applying in Hanoi (soft power):

If I arrive in Hanoi on the October 26th (Sunday), can I apply on that day or would I wait until Monday to submit the paperwork?

Does it matter that my booking reservation would show that I just arrived, and that I only have the reservation for 2 weeks?

Or do they not really scrutinize that part of the application?

Thanks in advance!

My DTV Visa Experience — From the Thai Embassy in Paris for a family of 3. Approved for all of us.

I thought I’d share my full timeline and experience applying for the Digital Nomad (DTV) visa via the Workcation category, in case it helps anyone here 👇

My Application (Main Applicant)

* Applied: August 23

* Category: Workcation

* Documents submitted:

* 3 invoices from my company

* My French business registration (Kbis)

* My company website

* My personal Revolut bank statement showing over 15,000 EUR for the last 3 months

* All the other standard documents listed on the embassy website

On September 9, they asked for an additional ID photo.

Visa approved on October 4.

So overall, it took around 6 weeks.

My Daughter’s Application

* Applied: October 5

* I submitted:

* All required documents

* A sponsor letter + my bank statement (as the main applicant)

* For “proof of presence in France,” I used her savings account statement showing her postal address

On October 15, they requested:

* A proof of accommodation (attestation d’hébergement)

* a phone bill under my name (the mother)

Visa approved on October 17

My Husband’s Application

* Applied: October 7

* He didn’t have the 15,000 EUR for 3 full months, only for 1 month,

but we decided to try with his own personal statement anyway.

On October 16, they asked for the main applicant’s bank statement (mine) showing 15,000 EUR for 3 months.

Visa approved on October 17

Conclusion

In the end, one single account with 15,000 EUR maintained over 3 months was enough for the three of us (main applicant + spouse + child).

⏳ Processing time:

* Mine: ~6 weeks

* Family: ~10–12 days

Hope this helps anyone preparing their own DTV application from France 🇫🇷✨

Hey!

I’m applying for my DTV next week.

I live and work in Spain but will be applying from the London uk embassy.

My spanish bank can’t translate my statement to English.

Also when filling it in shall I put my Spanish address or my UK home address?

Any advice or help please? 🙏

Hello everyone, I am going to enter Thailand for the second time. Do I need to print out my visa again? Is there anything else I need to provide?

Update!

Oct 20th: I ended up sending a cover letter explaining that my company does not sign & stamp contracts along with further proof I am an independent contractor for them.

October 21st: Approved 🎉

Hi Everyone!

I finally received a request for an additional document--my contract signed & stamped. The copy of the contract I sent them does have a stamp, but not signed by the company itself, only my electronic signature. The company (where I'm considered an independent contractor) does not do this. Has anyone been in this situation? How did you handle it?

This group has been so helpful so far! Thank you 🙏

DTV says need 500k Thai baht for 3 months in bank account with statements. I don’t usually keep much in there. Will an investment account work to prove 500k?

Also, Will I be subject to Thai taxes on a DTV?
