Sinsod still happens but is more prominent in villages in the more rural areas. Any that I’ve seen has only been for family tradition & everything was given back afterwards.

Just arrive at the border crossing & follow the signs for immigration.

You’ll both get a 30 day visa exempt stamp not visa on arrival which is different. I’ve used that border crossing a few times.

Always wait until you have the visa granted before booking.

They announced a few weeks ago that the processing times were taking longer as priority was being given to Ukrainian visas.

I recently renewed by son’s U.K. passport from the U.K. whilst he was in Thailand. I was asked for a letter from his teacher confirming his address, his identity and that she taught him. I typed a letter myself, giving the address of the school, teachers name & contact number. I sent the letter to my Wife in Thailand via email for her to print and get the teacher to sign before she photographed it and emailed it back to me to print off and forward to the U.K. passport office. They sent the renewal passport directly to the Trendy Building in Bangkok for my wife to collect.

A one day overstay never qualifies for a fine. You’ll get a stamp in your passport but it won’t affect any return entry or visa. Thai immigration is used to the unforeseen happening with departure flights. I’ve had many one day overstays.
