I had the same situation with our newborn. Luckily his passport came before our 6 month stamp expired and we were able to leave together but if it didn't my wife and I were planning to leave separately, taking turns to look after the baby in Thailand.

Did for myself and my wife in Jakarta and Hanoi respectively. Both approved. The fee for Hanoi was $340 at the time, don't remember Jakarta. You must be diligent with the required paperwork, if you can't be, an agent will force you for a fee.

Anonymous participant 749 Thanks, I didn't know no. 3 wasn't needed. With the overstays I guess it is not a problem, it's just not very nice having a passport full of overstay stamps, even if it's not a problem in Thailand it might raise eyebrows applying for visas in other countries.

CharmingCherry9039 You need to leave Thailand to your home country or Vietnam/Indonesia/Cambodia/Laos and do a dependant DTV application. It's similar to the original application, you don't need to include workcation/soft power/medical documents again but you need to show up to date 500,000 THB bank statements, sponsor letter as the father/mother and paperwork like the birth certificate.

We just had ours a few days ago. The process seems to be:

1. Apply for birth certificate

2. Apply for home country passport

3. Go to immigration for first stamp

4. Leave Thailand and apply for dependent DTV

There's no fine for overstays, but it still goes on the record.

We have a baby on the way next month. We will have to apply for a birth certificate, UK passport, then take him out of the country and make a dependent DTV application. Our 180-day stamps run out in April, so if the baby's passport doesn't come in time, we will have to make separate border bounces to get a fresh stamp.

It's not just the money, she will need her own workation docs or soft power docs
