What are the requirements and considerations for applying for a visa to Taiwan based on financial evidence and timelines?

Hello,

I have a bit of an odd situation. I have a DTV, and am living with my long-term GF from Europe who doesn't have. Immigration has become more strict and having doubts she'll be let back in when we go back.

We can't do dependent DTV because Thailand doesn't recognise common law marriage.

However it just so happens we'll be travelling to Taiwan in a couple of days, and I've just emailed their embassy. The embassy says we can apply through the E-Visa Portal, and we have to comply with the requirements set out on their embassy website.

The thing is, on their embassy website, it doesn't specify the need to hold 500k Thai Baht for 3 months, just that you have 500k Thai Baht in the Account and can prove it.

*"Financial evidence: amount of no less than 500,000 THB OR equivalent amount in foreign currency e.g. bank statements OR sponsorship letter covering living expenses."*

In that case, I'm pondering a few things and would appreciate any insight or help into any of the points.

1) Could I just transfer her like 20k EUR from my account a couple of days before, and would that suffice? No need for 3 month proof when reading their site...

2) If the visa application was taking too long, could we cancel it before they've completed their review? We only have a set amount of days in Taiwan, and we're due back to Thailand for a wedding on the 3rd of Dec. All flights and accommodation booked, so I dont want to lose it.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about their long-term European girlfriend obtaining a visa to Taiwan given the tight timeline and financial requirements. They are considering transferring funds to show for the application and seek clarity on whether they need to show a sustained balance in the bank account for 3 months, as well as the possibility of canceling the visa application if it takes too long. Community comments suggest that while the 500k Thai Baht does not need to be held for 3 months, there are strict documentation requirements related to the visa type she is applying for, and funds transferred shortly before application might raise red flags. It's advised to sort out visa applications well in advance of travel plans.

I can’t understand why people want to go to Thailand but leave visa applications till the last minute common sense tells get visas sorted then book flights and hotel

She would also need paperwork to show that she has signed up for an approved soft power course and that she has income to support herself for the duration of the visa, or if workation then the documentation for that. You can't cancel the application once it's submitted

So once it's up, can't cancel it at all? I don't mind about losing the 10k baht, it's just that if it's taking too long Ill make other arrangements to enter Thailand, and I don't want the pending visa application to get in the way of that

You never have to have it in the back for any period of time. Just show it once.

Showing the money in her account just transferred 2 days before raise red flags

I wonder if I could explain/add a sponsor letter. Money would be coming from my account, and I'm a verified DTV holder, so maybe a letter would help in explaining, but idk

It's not just the money, she will need her own workation docs or soft power docs

Yep, I own the company and she works for it casually too. I've given her a service contract, and can give her the full backing of the company (the company with which I got approved for my DTV).

Not too worried about those docs.

I applied in Taipei and like other folks on this page I DON'T recommend to apply there. They are EXTREMELY strict with the documentation and even tho it isn't mandatory to season the money in bank for a few months, they will ask to check the bank transactions for

months (I got asked to show that for the 4 months previous my application). They also make no difference between soft power route or work action. They want to see u got a job and they wanna see you have steady incomes that can support yourself. Despite of having a very strong application, I still got interviewed (after a week) and it wasn't easy. I got asked a lot of questions about my work, my incomes and how long I'd like to live there. They went into details of my previous trip with very detailed questions. And that was several months ago, I believe they all got much stricter since the new law

Thanks for the insight... Sounds like a hassle. Might just do the ED visa for her or something

Which DTV E–Visa Category is she planning to apply for?? Soft Power, Workcation/Remote Worker/Digital Nomad, or etc. ??

It would be Workcation

Taiwan did not have a seasoning requirement for the 500k when I applied You should double check it is still the same. Taiwan does approve quickly 1- 3 days if no further docs are required and if you are given a prompt interview. Note if she is applying for Softpower in Taipei they require the same employment docs as Workcation. You can email them for questions you have, they are responsive, or they were when I emailed. You get no refund for not continuing your application.

Thanks for the insight, getting mixed responses in the comments, so not sure if I'll apply in Taiwan. We are going to Australia soon for a few weeks, so also wondering if we could do it while there. Seems non-residents can apply from there with a Visa letter as "showing current location"

Anonymous participant I see the responses, Taiwan is ok but you just need to be really on point with your paperwork especially the financial docs. Australia is 'friendlier' so it is a good option if you going to be there. Also SEA like Indonesia , Vietnam, are great.
