What should I put for 'Place of Issue' on my visa application if my passport lists 'Issuing Country' as BRA and 'Authority' as DPF/CAS/SP?

"PLACE OF ISSUE"

I know this has been asked dozens of times and I read almost all the posts mentioning it, but the responses are very different.

My passport only has 2 fields that can be interpreted as "Place of Issue":

- "Issuing Country": "BRA"

- "Authority": "DPF/CAS/SP"

My country is "BRAZIL" / "BRASIL"

So what information should I put in "Place of Issue", I've already contacted the embassy and it was not very helpful.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The query revolves around how to fill the 'Place of Issue' field in a Thai visa application, particularly when the passport only specifies the issuing country as 'BRA' and the authority as 'DPF/CAS/SP'. Various responses suggest that applicants should use the name of the country (Brazil) rather than the authority. Some shared personal experiences, indicating a preference to write their actual issuing country or to replicate the information found in their passport to avoid issues. There is also mention of mixed success with different approaches.

I put "HMPO" on my application, straight from the authority field on my passport and was accepted. For my wife's application I just put U.K., hers was also accepted. But I've also seen both ways get rejected on here so really it's a toss up.

Issuing country

Put BRA or BRAZIL

The authority isn’t what they want, they want to know which county issued the passport.

Some people put Bangkok, which is what their passport stated, where their European passport was issued from (like an issuing authority) and they were rejected.

I did not see a single post from anyone who wrote their passport country in this field and got rejected

I just copied everything written in my passport as it is written there

Aplicando no brasil é mais facil, minha amiga aplicou la e pediram os extratos bancarios originais em português como documento adicional.

Eu apliquei em Jakarta e escrevi

DPF - Federal Police Department - Ponta Grossa - PR - BRASIL

Apliquei no Brasil ano passado. Em "Place of Issue" coloquei:

Embassy of Brazil - Yangon - Myanmar
