My wife was just approved in Hanoi as a dependant.
26th July: Applied
31st July: Pending Approval
5th August: Approved
Five and a half working days total as I believe the 28th was a holiday. No additional doc requests.
Docs provided:
6-month statements for her UK Revolut account. £12k in there for 3 months. Revolut doesn't seem to provide a proper monthly statement if there are no transactions in a month, so it was just a one-page document covering the whole period. Also a screenshot of the currency conversion to baht on the day.
Thai marriage certificate
Location proof: hotel info page, map, room key. Vietnam entry stamp in passport. Selfies in the hotel lobby with the sign.
Passport photo
My DTV
I had an issue after first submitting where the application was stuck in payment pending, but I hadn't been given a chance to actually make the payment. I think I might have clicked off and back, so I had to resubmit the whole thing. Other than that, a very smooth process comparable to my experience with the Jakarta embassy.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The author successfully obtained a dependent visa for their wife while in Hanoi, detailing the timeline from application to approval. They reported a smooth process that took five and a half working days with no additional document requests. Required documents included financial statements from a UK bank, a Thai marriage certificate, proof of residence, passport photos, and the DTV (Digital Tourist Visa). They cautioned about potential application issues, such as payment concerns, and highlighted the importance of printing the DTV visa approval email for travel to Thailand.
