for what it’s worth, my daughter also got her Thai passport with no input from me. Her mother is Thai, I’m Australian, my name is on her birth certificate and we weren’t married at the time. This happened several years ago, so maybe the regulations have changed?

When I got my jabs they used my Tabian bahn number (Yellow house book)

The way I understand the answers so far, if I have had 3 jabs here in the Land of Smiles (I have), I won't need a test before flying out (I will be flying to Australia). Is that correct?

Kanchanaburi - see the Death Railway and the war cemetery. This is where the movie Bridge on the River Kwai was based.

When I renew my Retirement visa, I do all the required photocopying (3 pages) at Immigration. Total cost - 6 baht.

@Neil ********
ahh, that might explain why Immigration wanted me to change my “retirement fund account” from Kasikorn to Bangkok Bank when I renewed my Retirement visa in December. I’ve used Kasikorn for the past few years (on their recommendation), but suddenly this year they wanted it changed.

Ahh, OK. I've also transferred amounts like that in the past, I thought this THB 50,000 was a new thing. Maybe I read it wrong.

Thanks for that info. I asked because I read somewhere recently (and I may have misconstrued the article) that Thai banks were now accepting a maximum of THB50,000 per incoming transaction. I believe it was something to do with combatting money laundering.
