TLDR : Answer Summary
In response to the inquiry about the best places to visit in Thailand for Australians, popular destinations mentioned include Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Ko Samui, and Kanchanaburi. Australians do not need a visa for stays up to 30 days if entering through specific airports, but there is an option for a tourist visa giving 60 days with a potential 30-day extension. Vaccination status may affect entry protocols and potential quarantine requirements. Various islands like Koh Chang, Koh Kood, and Koh Phangan were also highlighted as appealing destinations.
Koh Chang is great. Lots of nice beaches, bars and restaurants. Plenty of massage shops open also. You can easily get to Koh Kood and Koh Mak from here also.
Kanchanaburi (the movie Bridge on the River Kwai was based on events there) is fascinating - the Death Railway, war museum and war cemetery are tourist attractions. Itβs worth a visit.
Good to see Maya bay, but it's closed. Nice to go to Silom islands, but they are closed. Could go to Tiger village, but it's closed. I hear JJ market is open if you like shopping? Elephant sanctuary, but it's closed.
I live in Australia mate.. people can enter Australia if they are family members of Australia citizen or permanent resident.read my question again thanks π
man i was just polemic from my side coz of the decision taken by australia; they let u come, yes, but with quarantine and vaccinated. he is not vaccinated and can skip quarantine... ;-)
Kanchanaburi, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Ayutthaya, if you looking a total chill surrounded by hills Pai. Koh Chang. If you go down south Phuket, Krabi, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan .. lot of choices depends on your needs, budget, interest ;)
Most popular are Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Ko Samui, etc.
As an Australian citizen you can enter with no visa (visa exempt) and get stamped for 30 days, or you can buy a tourist visa from your local consulate and youβd get stamped in for 60 days. Both options allow a one off extension in country for a further 30 days.
