ED visa is definitely not a good long term visa solution. Retirement visa if one of you is over 50. Or LTR if you meet the requirements. Elite is the easiest option but the most $$$.

it seems hard for second generation kids to want to learn their native language when they already know English. I have plenty of friends in California who have Chinese parents and their parents even sent them to Chinese language school to learn their native tone but the kids could barely speak any Chinese. I've been in Thailand for almost 2 months now, Chinese is my native language and learning Thai is a bit easier for me because I already speak another tonal language.

Right! I'm a second generation immigrant. Back in the 90s, it took my father almost 5 years to get a visa approved to be allowed to visit the US....I'm a US citizen and I see it all the time that people with US/UK/EU passports feel entitled to be allowed in any country of their choice without questions asked.

agree 100%. people who hold certain passports (US/UK/EU etc) don't understand that other people with more restricted passports have to go through so much more to even get a tourist visa to visit other countries. I don't hear Thai people complaining about having to go through a whole interview process just to get a tourist visa to visa the US!

That's why being able to stay long term in Thailand is the biggest issue for most people. But again staying or living long term(more than 90 days) in any foreign country is not easy. Long term solutions: work permit, LTR, retirement(over 50) Ed visa or Elite. It's like that everywhere in the world. Thai people can't even visit the US without doing an interview for a tourist visa.

I never claimed to know what everyone here thinks, and I don't have to read minds because I can read people's responses, and they are all helpful responses, except for your trolling arguments. But common sense is often wasted on people with no common sense, so, you do you and good luck!

yes he will still be a tourist with the elite visa, but the difference is elite is a legit paid tourist visa for 5-20 yrs. Right now he's trying to play the system and was given a warning. No one can stay in any country long term without the proper visa. Everyone here is trying to help him. What's your deal?
