Can anyone tell me the exact process for a first land border crossing.

If crossing into Laos or Cambodia and I just want to do for the purpose of exit/entry of Thailand.

Q. Is do I have to buy a full tourist visa for Laos or Cambodia?

I'm a UK citizen.

Thinking of crossing first time in the north from Chang Rai.

Thanks for factual advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To cross the land border from Thailand to Laos or Cambodia, UK citizens will require a visa. You can obtain a visa on arrival at the border or apply for an eVisa online beforehand to save passport space. Make sure to acquire an entry and exit stamp for the country you are visiting. It's recommended to join a group or travel with a company for safety.
