On the BOI website it is advertised as being for wealthy pensioners. Not so wealthy in the US but here in Thailand . . . I guess so

I wouldn’t think you would want a car in Bangkok so it would just be your time in Hua Hin depending on how you spend your time between the two cities.

I lived in Phra Khanong, Bangkok for 6 years and did not need a car. I used the BTS/MRT, taxis, motorbike taxis, and Grab. Occasionally we rented a car for excursions. We moved to Sisaket province in 2023. There is no public transportation out here. I bought a Honda CRV. I loved not having a car in BKK but I really love the freedom of having a car now that I am outside of BKK. I’ve got a motorbike here in the countryside for short excursions. Motorbike accidents are common everywhere in Thailand. My wife’s daughter got in an accident a couple of weeks ago. I see accidents pretty regularly.

No. I showed them my tax return which showed over $80,000/yr in the US. My income is a work pension and Social Security. It’s what you receive, pre-tax, outside Thailand.

I got my pensioner LTR in January, 2023. If you meet the $80,000/yr passive income requirement then it is a good option. If your passive income isn’t complicated then you don’t need an agent. It also requires health insurance or $100,000 in your bank.

Yes there is a Kasikorn branch downstairs. If it is not working then just wait for the bank to open. If you encounter problems and possibly have to return another day then it is not the end of the world. Take notes and the next year extension will go more smoothly. You can extend 45 days early in Bangkok. Go as early as you can.

You have given them your financial and insurance information and they have approved you for an LTR visa?

They also asked me to send them pages from my passport.

Make an appointment at the BOI office. If you are missing anything then they will take care of it for you.

I assume your car is something special? Has sentimental value? If not then sell it and use the proceeds towards buying a car here. Cars tend to be a little more expensive here even if built in Thailand.

I believe they complete whatever needs to be done for people already in the office when they close but I have never experienced that myself.
